Everyday Clothing Resource
For women who are above average in size, it is really difficult to find nice clothes. There are a few stores that specialize in plus size clothing, but most of the clothing boutiques aim for people that are ridiculously thin. Not what the average person considers fair, but it happens. So what happens, though, when formal events come around and the “above average” population needs to find something nice to wear?
Plus sized formal wear can be a nightmare to pick out. One doesn’t want to have an outfit that is unflattering; however finding something in a decent price range is hard too. When choosing what to wear, look for something that doesn’t cling to the skin. Avoid 100% spandex attire as it clings to the skin. Instead, find an outfit that is made primarily of cotton, yet with a little stretch to it.
A formal blouse or dress would look fabulous if it has a ruffled front. This is great for hiding the extra skin we don’t want seen, and gives an otherwise slimming affect. Go with darker colors, as bright ones make one stand out more. If for some reason one can’t avoid stripes, avoid horizontal stripes as they do not have a slimming effect on the body and can in fact have the opposite effect, allowing you to appear increasingly wider, rather than choosing formal wear that is flattering and fits well.
While choosing plus size formal wear, keep in mind that one should choose formal wear that is flattering – and there are indeed many styles that can be chosen from while shopping on the internet, as well as searching through formal stores which offer plus size formal wear designs.
